A distinct, unmistakable form that breaks away from the standard townhouse typology
Occupying a prominent intersection in Caulfield North, this project is a study in spatial precision. The brief demanded a highly efficient footprint: accommodating two generous two-bedroom dwellings, complete with double garages, on a highly constrained and asymmetrical corner site. In the absence of superfluous space, the architecture relies on deliberate, sculptural gestures to define its presence.
To prevent the massing from feeling purely utilitarian, the internal circulation is celebrated as a defining exterior feature. By expressing the line of the central staircase and extending the glazing across two full storeys, the design draws dynamic natural light deep into the core of the footprint. This vertical intervention gives the building a distinct, unmistakable form that breaks away from the standard townhouse typology.
Externally, the façade is articulated with bold, dark architectural lines. Strategic awnings and structural frames cut across the volume, breaking down the overall mass and anchoring the building to its streetscape. The result is a highly resolved corner development that transforms spatial limitations into an exercise in meticulous, uncompromising design.
