An environment built to inspire, acting as a launchpad for students' futures
The Launch Lab fuses a library, science centre, and makerspace into an interconnected learning environment. Rather than following traditional educational templates, the design fundamentally challenges the structure of these spaces. A high-performance skin of glass planks wraps the exterior in a translucent ribbon, while stepped terraces create outdoor learning platforms that bridge the organic kitchen garden below with the analytical science labs above.
Internally, traditional corridors are replaced by a wide "Collaboration Spine" to make student thinking visible. Hidden narratives shape the architecture itself, with the building's curves following a precise 1:1,000,000 scale of our relationship to our celestial neighbours, representing Earth, Moon, and Mars.
The true challenge of the project was amalgamating these disparate disciplines with a rigorous educational philosophy. The result is an environment built to inspire, acting as a launchpad for students' futures.
